Person Centered Counselling I work primarily within a person centered approach. This means you will be listened to in a safe and non-judgmental environment, which allows you to find your own answers, with my guidance.
The Aim Person centered counselling is for you to work at your own pace and discuss things you feel comfortable with. Unlike some other models of counselling I will not bombard you with questions and attempt to label or diagnose you. My only aim is to provide an environment where, together, we can explore the issues that are causing you distress and find solutions or methods for coping.
Its About You You are an individual and will respond to various approaches in different ways. Person centered counselling recognises this. I am committed to understanding your individuality and will tailor sessions to your requirements. I hold a Masters in psychological therapies alongside my counselling degree and can integrate different approaches to suit your needs. The sessions will be led by you and will always be individually tailored, professional and impartial.
What It’s Not There are some misconceptions about what happens in counselling and for some there is a fear that if you don’t know what is ‘wrong’ then attending counselling won’t help. This isn't the case, there doesn't need to be a ‘reason’. If you don’t feel ‘right’, then talking things through will give you the space to gain some clarity on you're feelings.
The Counselling Room The counselling room, at Altered Images, is a specifically designed space where we can talk in private. I will meet you outside and take you to the consultation space.
Appointments My aim is to find an appointment time that suits you, discuss the way in which sessions are carried out and then work collaboratively with you to negotiate and explore whatever brings you to counselling. You can find out more at the appointment page.
